Clergy do not need training. In fact, they do not need anything. That is the problem.
What clergy need are new environments in which new training is a requirement for ministry success.
Currently, the ministry environment does not need new training, just repetition of old training.
The typical local church incentivizes quality in the role of the priest:
- preaching
- pastoral care
- the sacraments, etc.
But, there is little demand for these competencies within contemporary American culture.
The new ministry environment should match the dreams of the community.
That’s it.
